City Digits was an NSF-funded project as part of DRK-12, awarded to CUNY’s Brooklyn College under the direction of Dr. Laurie Rubel. In collaboration with MIT’s Civic Data Design Lab and the Center for Urban Pedagogy, City Digits curriculum, on the mathematics of the state lottery and of financial institutions, was developed and piloted in New York City high schools.

Beyond Word Problems was funded by the City University of New York as a Collaborative Incentive Research Grant, to co-PIs Dr. Laurie Rubel of Brooklyn College and Dr. AJ Stachelek of Hostos Community College. Beyond Word Problems brought curricular concepts from the earlier City Digits project into a community college context.
